I remember a photo of when Coufal signed , the sheer delight in his expression , as if he couldn’t quite believe what was happening.
Almost like a stagehand being told he was getting to shag Beyoncé or some sort .
He has taken his opportunity and overall has been a great buy .
But he is technically poor , relatively slow and not getting any younger .
The quickest league in the world is unforgiving.
We need an upgrade next season.

I’d like to see that as well Fraser.

Just on the Coufal issue - I think he's been absolutely superb for us. For the money we paid, a perfect signing. Great professional and ambassador for the club. However, I do feel that he's lost a yard of pace and looking slightly vulnerable when up against speed players. I think if we are going to progress at the right pace then RB would be an area for an upgrade in the summer before we get to the point where he starts to become a liability.

Yeah good point he has got quite a few assists this year but I guess he was always going to when he seems to be the only way we attack for first few months this season.

As said before I like him, but it should be a priority to upgrade/add better competition in the summer

In my nearly 50 years of supporting West Ham he is the 2nd best right back we have ever had just behind Ray Stewart.

We should treasure him.

Coufal is in the top 10 of assist makers in the league I think. I think it's either him or JWP has the most assists at the club this season.

It's weird as it doesnt look like he has it in him. But stats are stats.

Mex - His favourite position is AM I would love to see him there... Bowen on the right, a new centre forward but doubt that will happen unless we have injuries.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Two good performances in the spin. JWP more advanced is working well. Pressing slightly higher up and generally playing with a bit more tempo. Need to keep that up and not revert to type against Liverpool and Man Utd.
Kudus looks excellent, hopefully Antonio is back before the afcon.
Lack of form on the bench a concern with so many games. Feels like we are one or two injuries away from the Fulham side and performance. Really need back ups for alverez and Emerson.

Mex Martillo 10:36 Mon Dec 18
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Both Kudus goals were passes to him up front that he controlled well made space to get shot in for the goal. Bowen had 2 opportunities that were similar, did well, but didn’t get the goals. I think Kudus can do even better in a more central position. Or swap it round more and confuse the opposition.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Oh and the first Paqueta assist was brilliant, he first of all won the ball by sticking his head in a dangerous position. Everyone at the ground was screaming for him to play it left... He dropped it over to Kudus perfect weight on it straight into his path, it was a brilliantly played ball.

fraser 10:28 Mon Dec 18
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Played it well with Kudus, nope not for me.. He was ready when he arrived.. Fully fit and not being used while we were on a bad run. No reason whatsoever that he couldn't have started earlier and been producing what he has earlier... Or do you actually think at anyone time that Soucek was a better option while Kudus was on the bench?

Of course he fucking wasn't.

Oh and stop talking shit about me wanting to be right, everyone does it on here, you as much as anyone else ..

fraser - Fuck me fella, you truly are the expert around here aren't you, desperate to be proved right on what you have said in the past, don't worry about it so much. You are even having a pop at Moyes for bedding Kudus in early doors, when in reality Moyes has played it well with kudus.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
fraser - Nah, I wouldn't put Paqueta at game changing level, I don't think he can do what Kudus did yesterday, ie put us two up in the blink of an eye. Yes two good passes but they weren't that great, he had acres in front of him. I would like to see him produce more defense splitting passes in and around the box, like a Berkovic/Benayoun.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
For Coufal, been great signing for us love the bloke. But if we want to progress to that regular top 6 side you need someone who has a bit more pace and much more effective going forward.

A large part of why we have been shit this season is cos 80-90% of our attacks are ending up with him putting a cross in. He can't beat a man or deliver a good ball.

Love the bloke, but he should be the Europa/reserve RB next season. Ashby deserved way more of a chance than he got.

Rossal 9:45 Mon Dec 18
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Another good performance yesterday. Kudus and Bowen were superb. Paqueta 3 glorious assists, just needs to cut out losing the ball in our own half!

JWP much much better in the no 10 role instead of Soucek. Emerson good link up again. Aguerd looking much better. Coufal solid as always.

Maybe the Fulham result was the kick up the arse the team and more importantly the manager needed. 2 Good performances since, lets beat Man Utd on sat

No more low block bollocks, nearly threw it away yesterday reverting to type first 20 mins of the 2nd half.

Im sure every single press conference Moyes says either 'i wasn't happy with the first half' or 'i wasnt happy with how we started the 2nd half'

what on earth does he say to them in the dressing room?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
A great performance with some scintillating displays from our front three. Really glad that Moyes has finally seen the attacking potential in the squad and set the team up to allow that to thrive. It's taken him some time, and perhaps the Antonio injury finally forced his hand, but for whatever reason I think the penny may have finally dropped.

We dominated for the most part and Wolves couldn't live with the front three for most of the game. Apart from early part of second half were we looked edgy it was an excellent performance.

It's fine lines. And obviously Coufal should've seen red and if their goal counted (offside by an inch) it could've been a different day, but we absolutely deserved that win based on how positive and expansive we were.

Nice also to see Mubama but still think he needs more minutes to develop at the right speed.

Well done Moyes and the team. Much more entertaining and exciting.

A good performance, apart from 20 minutes st the start of the 2nd half when we reverted to type. Had their disallowed goal stood, it may have been very different.

Interesting that the pro Moyes posters use the last two wins as a “told you so” stick to beat those who have been critical, when all he has done is play a style closer to what the critics have been asking for. It actually proves the point more. We have some excellent players, this shows we don’t need to play on the back foot and give up possession every week.

fraser 8:42 Mon Dec 18
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Wolves - Official Match Thread - Preview
Mex - Kudus was brilliant on the right yesterday... Why would you want to move him up front?

It's not his position, he comes deep so often and picks up the ball and drives us forward... He's the only player who does that apart from maybe Emerson, why would you remove that?

Moyes foolishly tried it against Spurs and it didn't work at all as he wasn't involved at all.

We have a brilliant player in a rich vein of form who's playing in one of his best two positions which is RW and AM.. Leave him in one of those.
